PREREQUISITES:
- Setup your FDT camera and on your network. If you haven’t already done this, please watch the step-by-step setup video tutorial here or check out the tutorial here.
- Set up desktop access is required You will be accessing this camera through a computer so if you’re unsure how to do this, check out the tutorial here or watch the step-by-step video tutorial here.
- Find the external IP address of your network. To do this, visit whatismyip.com or Google “what is my IP”. Note down your external IP.
- Download and install LiveCams Pro to your iOS/Apple devices.
NOTE: This app is not available for download for Android users. Please see our support article for an alternative app for Android devices.
SETTING UP THE CAMERA:
- Login to the FDT Web interface.
- Click the “Config” tab on the top panel.
- In the left hand-panel, click “Network” then “Network” right below.
- Change the HTTP port to an unused port between 1024 – 49151. This cannot be the same as any other port used by this camera. In this example, we used 7901.
- Also, change the “IP Type” to Static.
- Note down the HTTP port and the IP Address as you will need them later.
- Click "Apply" to save these settings. The camera will reboot. Please wait about 30 seconds for the camera to reboot.
PORT FORWARDING SETUP:
As each router is different, we recommend checking out the exact process for your router at https://portforward.com/router.htm. In this example, we will be using a Netgear C3000. Please click here to read our article or watch the step-by-step video tutorial on the Port Forwarding process.
- For the Netgear C3000, log into the router via a web browser.
- Then select “Advanced”, on the left panel select “Advanced Setup”, and finally “Port Forwarding/Port Triggering”.
3. Now, we need to create a custom service for the HTTP port by clicking “Add Custom Service”.
4. This brings up the Custom Services screen. Create a “Service Name” that identifies what this port is for.
5. Select the “Service Type” of “TCP”. Set the “External Starting Port” and “External Ending Port” to the HTTP port on you set on the camera.
6. Set “Internal IP address” to the IP address of your camera.
7. Click the “Apply” button and return to the previous screen.
Your HTTP port will now be forwarded to your camera.
APP SETUP:
- Start by opening the LiveCams Pro app.
- Tap the “+” icon at the bottom of the screen to open the Add Camera screen.
- A window will pop up asking to scan the network. Tap Cancel.
4. On the Add Camera screen, change the Camera Profile to “Foscam 9820” by tapping the button next to Camera Profile.
5. Next, fill in the following fields:
- Label: name of the camera (up to you)
- Username: username to login to the camera
- Password: password to login to the camera
Local Address:
- Host or IP: IP address of your camera (noted down from earlier)
- HTTP Port: HTTP Port of your camera (noted down from earlier)
Remote Address:
Press the toggle button to enable Remote Address.
- Host or IP: External IP address of your network (noted down from earlier)
- HTTP Port: HTTP Port of your camera (noted down from earlier)
NOTE: The "Host or IP" (External IP address) in this section should be changed when your iOS device is not on the same network as your camera. Find the external IP address of the network your iOS device is connected to by visiting whatismyip.com or Google “what is my IP”. Input this external IP address in this field to view the camera remotely.
6. Tap the Save button in the top right and your camera has been added.
